A number of motorists have appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for speeding or having no licences or insurance
An uninsured driver was banned from the roads for seven days at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates decided a ban was obligatory because of repeat offending. Six points were added to the licence of Scott Browett.
Browett, 45, of Witham Road, Long Bennington, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance in Edwalton.
He was fined £346 and told to pay costs amounting to £228.
A single parent avoided a totting-up driving ban after being caught speeding four times on the same stretch of road because her four children, including one with cerebal palsy, are dependant on her.
Laura Smith, 31, of Thornton Mews, Bingham, was clocked doing 46, 48, 55, and 46mph in her Volkswagen in a 40mph zone on the A52 Cropwell Road at Radcliffe.
She admitted four counts of speeding.
Magistrates fined her £40 for each offence and told her to pay £154 in costs.
Her driving record was endorsed with a further three penalty points for each offence, meaning that she should have been disqualified.
A speeding motorist was banned from getting behind the wheel for 14 days.
Clive Briggs, 60, of College Court, East Markham, pleaded guilty to speeding in a Mini at Tuxford and was also fined £640, with another £346 in costs.
Ford driver 44-year-old Andrew Bradshaw escaped a totting-up disqualification after he pleaded guilty to speeding on the A6005 bypass at Chilwell.
Bradshaw, of Station Lane, Farnsfield, heard magistrates, would have trouble meeting his family obligations and would lose income if banned.
He was fined £256 and told to pay £124 costs. He also had three points added to his licence.
Uninsured motorist Joshua Milnes kept his licence due to his personal circumstances despite being caught speeding.
Milnes, 22, of Whitewater Road, Ollerton, was fined £120, told to pay £124 costs, and had six points added to his licence following his guilty plea.
He received no separate penalty for driving without a correct licence.
