Kelham Road underwater as rugby club and cricket club near Newark, Nottinghamshire flooded and a photography drone captures footage

Footage from the air taken by a drone photographer has shown the shocking extent of flooding near a closed road.

The A617 road near the rugby club, a portion of which was closed on December 6 is still not operating due to the amount of water in the area.

"We have had to close the A617 between the A46 Cattle Market roundabout in Newark and the Fox Inn in Kelham due to flood water making it impassable," said a police spokesman at the time.

Drone operator John Edlin took photographs of some of the sports facilities in the area.

Newark Rugby Club has had to cancel or relocate all of their home games for the upcoming weekend due to their pitch being underwater.

This included the 2nds match that was due to play earlier this evening (Friday, December 8) with a pre-match curry night.

Newark Ransome and Marles Cricket Club is also underwater and while it is not cricket season, it also looks like it will be a while before it is operational again.
