Eight-year wait for brief blooming

A rare plant that flowers every eight years was in full bloom this week.
The Giant Himalayan Lily at Norwell Nurseries, Woodhouse Road, Norwell, flowers only for a few days.
Another at the nurseries is due to bloom later this month.
The nurseries and three other gardens are opening to the public from 2pm-5pm a week on Sunday as part of the National Gardens Scheme.
The others include the Parish Gardens, an allotment site of 27 plots.
It will cost £3 to visit all five gardens, which are opening again on July 1, from 6.30pm-9pm.
