Elderly woman rescued after fire at house in Newark

An elderly woman was rescued after a fire broke out at a home in Newark.

Two fire crews from Newark were called to Staunton Road at 1.08pm on Sunday.

The elderly woman was rescued before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Fire crews wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel to put out the flames.

The woman was left in the care of staff from East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Firefighters left the scene by 2.10pm.
