Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service offer free home visits to vulnerable people to prevent and prepare for fires
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has offered to visit vulnerable members of the public to help prevent and prepare for emergency incidents.
"At Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service we are committed to making the communities we serve safer, and the best way to do this is to prevent incidents from happening in the first place," said a spokesman from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
"Home visits are a great way to do this as they are a proven way of reducing fires, fire-related deaths, and fire-related injuries.
"In addition to looking at your fire safety, we are now working with partner agencies to also offer advice on falls, keeping warm during winter, stopping smoking and alcohol intake.
"This is called a Safe and Well Visit that, in addition to fire safety, is tailored to an individual’s needs relating to their health and lifestyle choices."

"If you feel you are unable to assess the risks in your own home, or one of your friends, family, or neighbours is potentially vulnerable, we may be able to organise a home visit.
"Please make a referral to us and, assuming you have not indicated that someone is Deaf or hard of hearing, we will, in the first instance, contact you by phone to assess your needs.
"We will then arrange for a home visit should it be necessary which may include the fitting of free smoke alarms."
