Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service asks commuters to be considerate when picking car spaces as it could impede their crews
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged people to be mindful of where they park.
The service shared a post supplied by Southwell Fire Station that mentioned a car obstructing an appliance.
"Please have a thought next time you park your car," said a spokesman from the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
"As a Fire Service, we never know where we may need to access with our big appliances.
"This can end up having to go into lots of places.
"Our crews have to perform access checks and it helps our drivers develop their topography, local knowledge, and manouvering skills.
"Our crews go out every day and unfortunately they regularly find vehicles parked legally but poorly which can impede us.
"Please think about where you are parking, you might save 5 minutes on your walk from the car - but might add 5 minutes to a life-saving response."
