Firefighters at scene of blaze at former Lilley and Stone School on London Road, Newark




Emergency services are on the scene of fire at a disused school site in Newark town centre.

Fire crews were called to the former Lilley and Stone School on London Road, Newark, on Tuesday afternoon shortly after 5pm.

The blaze was in a detached building at the back of the school site and is now under control.

The building, a former education block, has been totally destroyed.

Watch manager Walker from Newark Fire Station advised residents affected by smoke to close their windows.
