Nottinghamshire Fire and rescue and police say sympathies with family of woman found dead at scene of house fire




Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said its sympathies were with the loved ones of a 57-year-old woman declared dead in a house fire.

Crews from Edwinstowe, Mansfield and Ashfield were called to a property in Princess Avenue in Forest Town at 5.30pm yesterday.

A fire alarm alerted the neighbours, who called the emergency services.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services were joined at the scene by the police.

The woman was declared dead at the scene.

Group manager Chris Emmot, from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “On behalf of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, I would like to express my condolences to the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are grateful to the local community for their patience and understanding while we investigate the cause of this fire.”

The woman’s family have been informed and the exact cause of the fire will be investigated.

The emergency services remained at the scene for the rest of the evening.

Chief Inspector Paul Hennessy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident, and our thoughts go out to her family and friends. Officers will be at the scene overnight to carry out a full investigation with our fire colleagues.”
