Employee celebrates 25 years of service at Newark opticians

A sales advisor has celebrated 25 years of service at a Newark opticians as the company recognise her loyal service.

Jane Clough, 64, was congratulated by colleagues at Scrivens Opticians and presented with a Cath Kidson watch and a spa voucher from the company she has worked at for over two decades.

The popular employee joined Scrivens when her daughter was a teenager and over the years and has seen customers have children who are now adults and also attend the branch.

"I love my job and can’t believe how quickly the years have gone. No day is the same and I like the variety, I’ve been very lucky in working with good people," said Jane who lives in North Muskham.

She added: “Some things have changed in the job, like computerisation, but there’s always been a focus on good customer service which I really enjoy.”

Scrivens Opticians which also provides hearing care was established in 1938 and now has 180 stores in England and Wales, with the St Marks Shopping Centre branch being one that contributes to a total of over 1,100 employees.

Pleased with Jane's successes and achievements, branch manager of Newark's Scrivens store, Sam Humphreys, said Jane is is such a positive influence that she does not want to see her go.

"Jane is very good at her job, a great team player and the customers love her. I’ve told her she is not allowed to retire, ever!” she added.
