Newark and Collingham firefighters leave scene of 'major' gas leak while Cadent engineers continue to fix leak




Firefighters are leaving the scene of a 'major' gas leak in Newark.

Gas engineers are continuing to work on fixing the leak on Hawton Lane.

As such, the road closure from Bowbridge Road to Lansbury Road is still in place.

Residents are still being asked to keep their doors and windows closed until the incident is dealt with.

Crews from Newark and Collingham attended the leak at around 3pm today.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Hawton Lane in Balderton is closed in both directions due to a major gas leak.

"Anybody in the area of Hawton Lane is asked to keep doors and windows closed. Please avoid the area whilst the incident is resolved."
