More people in the Newark area report their issues with EVRI deliveries
More people have come forward with their experiences of EVRI deliveries after the Advertiser highlighted problems yesterday.
From Newark town centre to Swinderby, Collingham, and many other areas, people have waited weeks.
Some people said that parcels have arrived with items missing or smashed, whilst others have had their parcels delivered to unknown addresses that are now considered lost.
Henrietta, who lives in Newark town centre, is currently waiting on five parcels from EVRI.
Her parcels include her parents' Christmas presents, which they always order to Henrietta’s house, and two Black Friday purchases.
Henrietta said: “One of the parcels is a replacement of a parcel I've been waiting for over three and a half weeks, and it was meant to be next-day delivery.
“Once my parcels are shipped and they arrive at the depot my tracker doesn’t show any updates.
“I’ve not even tried to contact them as they are impossible to get in touch with, as I know from previous experience, and they don’t give you any useful information.”
Henrietta has been in touch with the companies she has ordered from, which have offered her a replacement or refund.
The replacement that she chose was meant to be delivered last Thursday, however, there have been no updates since it arrived at the depot.
She added: “I really don't mind the wait but my worry is that the parcels will never arrive.
“I can understand the delays. With Black Friday, Christmas, Royal Mail strikes, weather, shortage of staff but two weeks and no update for a next-day delivery parcel is a bit too much.
“It just makes you think the parcel is lost.
“A couple of weeks ago I was in the parcel shop on Barnbygate when the EVRI driver came to drop off parcels and he told the lady behind the till that two people had been fired for stealing hundreds of parcels.
“So they’re dealing with not just a massive backlog but clearly some parcels are going missing.”
Wesley Rigby, a former EVRI employee, said in an email to the advertiser: “I used to work for EVRI and all the stuff in the news is lies. They are like this all year round it's appalling.
“I've emailed the CEO and no reply.
“I used to work there and it's always been the same, no help from depot staff.
“It's like they don't care.”
People have shared their waits on social media where they post pictures of their packages and parcels that have been delivered, but not to their homes, asking if anyone has their package.
The number of delays and complaints has been witnessed on a national level.
Nikki WIlliams from the Hawtonville estate, often gets her parcels delivered to her work.
Nikki said: “They have been awful.
“They first said they had attempted delivery but did not, as I was at work all day, so I was there as I had asked it to be delivered there.
“Then it was over a week before they attempted delivery again but they did not, as they said that the delivery address was incorrect.
“How can the delivery address be incorrect if they had already attempted delivery a week before?
“Now I’m not being funny but I work at Mkm building supplies.
“It's a massive builders merchant that has a massive sign out the front and we can be seen from the A1.”
Two weeks ago, on December 3, Nikki had to pay £1,99 for the company to attempt delivery again, but at the moment there are no updates on her parcel.
“’I’ve had no emails, nothing.
“I was mad that I had to pay again but what choice did I have in hoping to get my parcel.
“I have now started a claim through PayPal to try and get my money back.”
Evri hasn’t commented on the further complaints of delays and lost parcels, however this is the statement they provided on the previous story: https://www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk/news/complaints-over-parcel-deliveries-mount-9289296/ .
An EVRI spokesperson said: “We are sorry that some customers in the local area are experiencing short delays in receiving their parcels.
“This is due to a number of factors including Black Friday volumes.
“Our local team is working hard to address this and to deliver any delayed parcels over the next few days. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
