Nottinghamshire managers learn about army leadership techniques
Senior managers from organisations in Newark and the rest of Nottinghamshire spent a day learning about army leadership techniques and how these can be incorporated into their workplaces.
The Exercise Executive Leader took place at Chetwynd Barracks, Nottingham, last week where participants were introduced to the techniques before having a chance to put it into practice.
Event organiser Lieutenant Colonel Matt Ketterer said: “This event provides an expose into Army Leadership and an opportunity for the executives to review leadership theory and explore best practice from both the military and civilian domain.
“It also highlights the practical skills that all members of the Army will develop whether Regular or Reserve and how they can be brought back and applied to the civilian workplace.”
Among the organisations in attendance were RPS Newark and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The Associate Direct at RPS Newark Tilo Holzel took part in the event. He said: “One of the things that today has helped with is understanding how we can improve the business and how we can adapt ourselves and to understand what our actions mean to others.
“It has provided a better understanding of how big organisations work with vital systems and what it means for a person who has responsibility when trying to influence the business and people.”
Some of the tasks that senior managers took part in include an obstacle course and a communications task.
All of the organisations that took part have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and have earned a Silver Award or higher through the Employer Recognition Scheme.
