Christmas fair raises £600 towards new roof for St Giles' Church Hall in Balderton

A Christmas fair on Saturday raised almost £600 towards a new roof for St Giles’ Church Hall in Balderton.

The event, which took place in the hall, featured stalls selling items including cakes and Christmas gifts. There was also a raffle.

Refreshments included mince pies, which were donated by the Balderton Tesco store.

The event was the final chance for Balderton residents to hand in completed questionnaires, distributed throughout the village, about how they would like St Giles’ Church to continue to serve the community.

Churchwarden Mrs Kath Hirst said they had received far more replies than they had expected, and that a couple of other churches had picked up on the idea.

Those who completed the questionnaire were entered into a draw to win a £50 shopping voucher, which was drawn at the fair, and won by a resident who is not a church member.
