Book fair to take place in St Peter’s Church to help raise funds for roof repairs
A book fair is set to take place in Claypole to help raise money for a church roof.
It will take place in St Peter’s Church from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
The event is to raise funds for the repairs of the church roof after its lead was stolen several years ago.
There will be books, CDs, DVDs, and jigsaws for sale, as well as a tombola and refreshments.
Organisers are aiming to raise about £300 or £400 at Saturday’s fair.
The total amount needed to repair the roof is £80,000.
Prior last year’s book fair, £30,000 had already been raised and it was expected for the repairs to be completed by this spring, but that did not happen.
The church applied for several different grants to cover the repairs, but was unsuccessful.
The fundraiser is now half way through the target.
