LNER services delayed due to tree fallen on overhead wires near Newark

There are severe delays to some train services due to a fallen tree.

LNER has confirmed that a number of its East Coast Mainline services are delayed due to a conifer tree that fell on the overhead line equipment.

The issue was on the track just north of Newark.

The tree on the line meant that services were unable to move for some time, but it has since been removed.

A number of passengers posting on X (formally Twitter) reported having been stuck on board stationary trains and had journeys delayed for over an hour.

Many LNER services to destinations in Scotland and the North of England have been cancelled due to high winds.
