Family appeals to public after pet tortoise Fletcher escaped Sibthorpe garden
A family is appealing to the public after their pet tortoise escaped.
Fletcher the tortoise managed to sneak out of his garden in Sibthorpe at around 2pm on Sunday, May 8.
His owners are worried, particularly Buddy, 7, who says Fletcher will be cold and missing his family.
"Fletcher is my seven-year-old son Buddy’s pet tortoise," said Daisy Dexter.
"We looked after him for a friend during the first lockdown and he’s stayed with us since, sitting through home school lessons and hanging out with us in the sun.
"He’s full of character and mischief and we all really miss him, particularly Buddy who is worried Fletcher will get cold and is missing us."
Daisy said she had someone with a thermal imager look for Fletcher on Monday in the hope his shell had absorbed some heat — but no luck.
However, he was seen crossing the road between Thoroton and Hawksworth at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
