Fashion blogger Stefan Howarth appeared on Blind Date on Sunday.
A FASHIONISTA has shared his experiences of appearing on a much-loved matchmaking TV show.
Stefan Howarth, from Newark, appeared on the revamped Blind Date, made famous by Cilla Black and now hosted by Paul O'Grady, on Sunday as one of the three contestants hoping to be chosen to go on a blind date with Casey, from Cheltenham.
The episode was filmed back in November, and Stefan was put forward for the show after the producers approached a friend of his, who was married, so suggested Stefan instead.
Stefan said: "I was really nervous before the show aired as I'd had some negative feedback when I'd shared some press photos, but it went really well, and everyone was lovely."
Stefan appeared alongside fellow contestants Jeval, from Derby, and Shaunie, from Brighton, and told host Paul that he was looking for an investment banker, ideally one who was tall and would make him laugh, and that he was looking for "the one, not a one."
The contestants were asked by Casey what they would do to make a good first impression on him, to which Stefan answered that as he works in fashion, and he knows how to make an impression, all he would need is a killer walk and a cute smile and if he gazed into his eyes he would be hooked.
The second question was which item of ladies clothes would look best on you and why? Stefan answered that he had a gender fluid approach and his favourite thing is thigh-high boots and if he was chosen, he would show how good he looks in them and out of them.
Finally, as Casey works in a charity shop, he asked what item he would be prepared to donate to him, and Stefan said that he would donate one of his rings and Paul then took it to give it to Casey who put it in his pocket. Stefan said that he did get it back later though.
The contestants are given these questions beforehand to give them time to come up with a well-versed answer, and Stefan said he negotiated some of his answers with the producers as the original answers they suggested he say were quite rude.
Casey eventually chose Shaunie, and Stefan said that he wasn't really his type anyway.
Stefan's eye-catching outfit drew plenty of compliments and he said it was put together rather last minute:
"The cape was from ASOS and it took me ages to find something that wasn't too crazy but would stand out, and it only arrived the day before. I tried it on in the toilets at work and that was it."
