The 11th Wolfit Festival of Drama and Verse Speaking attracted many entries from children and adults on Friday and Saturday.

The event at Bowbridge School, Newark, was adjudicated by Marie Dixon and the prizes, sponsored by Strays of Newark, were presented on Saturday by the Mayor of Newark, Mr Harry Molyneux, and the chairman of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Mr Gordon Brooks.

Organiser Sheila Mumby said the festival, held in honour of the late great Shakespearean actor/manager Sir Donald Wolfit of Balderton, was growing in stature each year.
