Festive tree has pulling power

A mobile Christmas tree that will be pushed around a village during the festive season was decorated on Saturday before beginning its rounds.

There has been a mobile Christmas tree, mounted on the back of a trailer, in Farndon for around ten years after villagers were unable to have a permanent tree on the green for health and safety reasons.

Every year since the tree has been placed on a trailer, which is taken to different locations in the village each night.

During the day the tree is kept at Hardy’s Farm Shop, where a collection is taken for charity. This year’s chosen charities are the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and the Farndon Watch Group.

Mrs Judy Dodson, who helps to organise the tree, said: “When you drive into the village in the evenings you don’t know where it is going to be and people look out for it.

“Every year people ask if we are going to do the tree again.”

The tree was donated by Liz’s Garden Centre, based at Hardy’s Farm Shop.
