Balderton film-maker Scott Driver, of 4am Pictures, finishes filming on Cheeseburger - his latest movie

Filming on a Balderton director’s latest movie has wrapped.

Scott Driver, of 4am Pictures, completed the filming of his latest movie — Cheeseburger — which was shot on various locations around Newark, last week.

Cheeseburger sees a young man preparing for his first date with a girl he has been chatting with online, and focuses on the struggles for this socially awkward person in realising he will have to communicate with a real person.

Scott said: “It focuses on the struggle this character has in his preparation for the date. I think a lot of young men will relate to this character and his insecurities.”

The film was shot in many Newark locations, including the Travel Wright bus depot for the scene where the main protagonist was seen getting on an empty bus, and annoyingly, another person chooses to sit right next to him to make him more uncomfortable.

Scott and the crew also filmed at Tea Pots and Tea Cups café and the Market Place over the two-day shoot.

“The filming went really well. The weather wasn’t too bad and I was waiting for some kind of glitch to happen but it never came,” Scott said.

Scott plans to submit Cheeseburger to upcoming film festivals.

The film was also made with local extras and media students because Scott asked his former lecturer from Newark College if any of his students would be interested in gaining work experience at the shoot.

Scott is celebrating a recent achievement as he and his crew at 4am Films took part in a 24-hour film challenge by Derby-based Five Lamps Films, which offers film makers a platform to get themselves and their films noticed.

The challenge saw Scott and the crew given the task of writing, filming and editing a short film in just 24 hours, which had to include a submitted piece of dialogue submitted on the day of filming.

To Scott’s surprise, their short film, Today I Daydreamed I Killed Tom From Work, won the competition.

He said: “I wasn’t expecting us to have even come third or second, never mind winning. It was a huge shock.”
