Final consultation figures released
Final figures have been released for the public consultation held to shape the future of Newark's health services.
The figures show that 2,670 people had a say on the Newark Healthcare Review, which was led by NHS Nottinghamshire County, from November 30 to March 6.
The proposals aim to shape services over the next 25 years. They include options for the future of Newark's A & E department and mental health services for older people in the town.
On Thursday NHS Nottinghamshire County’s board formally acknowledged the closure of the consultation.
The results are now being analysed and the board will make a decision on the proposals on June 17.
Activities during the 90 day consultation period included a leaflet drop to 30,000 households, public meetings, a telephone survey and a dedicated website, www.nottspct.nhs.uk/newark
Mr Matt Youdale, the director of communications and engagement for NHS Nottinghamshire County, said: “We’ve had a terrific response to the consultation from the local community.
"I would like to thank everyone who took the time to let us know their views on what the future should be for healthcare in Newark.
“All of the 2,670 responses will be analysed and externally verified. The evidence they produce will be a key factor in the PCT Board’s decisions in June."
