Fire in cell at Morton Hall Immigration Removal Centre

A fire broke out in a cell at Morton Hall Immigration Removal Centre, in Lincolnshire, in the early hours of this morning.

Staff from the immigration centre extinguished the fire.

Crews from Newark and Collingham were called to the scene at 2.50am but the fire had already been put out.

A spokesman from the Home Office said there were no injuries to detainees or staff.

He said there was no disorder before, during or after the incident.
