Fire station open day
Vintage engines and a high-rise appliance formed part of an open day at Newark Fire Station on Saturday.
There were also equipment demonstrations at the Boundary Road station.
A new state-of-the art fire station, which is is more energy-efficient and cheaper to run, has been built next to the old one.
It was officially opened last month and the public had one of their first opportunities to have a look around last weekend.
A fire investigation dog, Dexter, a black cocker spaniel trained to detect accelerants used to start fires, had been due to attend, but was needed elsewhere.
The next phase will see contractors developing parking facilities and vehicular access.
It is the first time Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has had a station remain fully-operational whist a new one is built.
The new station is expected to have a lifespan of at least 50 years.
The station was officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace.
