Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service introduce new electric vehicle blankets
New specialised equipment has been rolled out, to help firefighters tackle electric vehicle fires.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has introduced electric vehicle (EV) blankets to be used when responding to incidents across the county.
The EV blankets are designed to manage incidents involving electric vehicles and improve safety for both firefighters and the public.
Introduction of the blankets comes in response to the increasing number of electric vehicles on Nottinghamshire’s roads, ensuring the fire service remains equipped to handle new risks.
The blankets are specifically designed to help contain fires of this type, reducing the potential for further damage and injury during incidents.
Richard Leighton, station manager of resilience and emergency planning, said: “The safety of our communities is at the heart of everything we do, and the introduction of these EV blankets is an essential step towards ensuring we are best prepared for any emergency calls that we may receive.
“By introducing new equipment to our inventory, it means we can enhance our service delivery but most importantly, protect the lives of our communities. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to becoming an outstanding fire service and creating safer communities.”
