Janice Holmes of Janice Rose Lingerie goes viral on TikTok showing how to put on a bra
A lingerie business owner has gone viral on TikTok with a video teaching how to put a bra on correctly.
Janice Holmes, the owner of Janice Rose Lingerie, created a TikTok account for the shop about a month ago.
Each social media video has a fun and educational side, from teaching how to put on bras the correct way to what breast shape you are.
The shop’s most recent TikTok has staff member Kelly showing the different ways you can put on a bra.
The video is captioned as “How do you put your bra on? Preserve the life of your bra by putting it on correctly.”
After each method, which most ways were incorrect Kelly said: “No, no no!” until she shows the correct way.
The final and correct method is slipping your arms into the straps while the bra is undone, before fastening it behind your back.
The method is in line with manufacturers instructions on the label of the bra, designed to make the bra last longer.
Business owner Janice Holmes said: “What we managed to do is pick some subjects that need to be talked about and it’s just really being educated and talking about bras in a different way.
"As a bra fitter I’ve come across lots of different things that people are doing and there’s a lot of different ways people put bras on.
“We went on Tiktok to engage in different customers, possibly younger customers because Tiktok is aimed at younger people and I feel that to do little videos can be a way to educate people about things that people don’t talk about.”
Comments on the video are causing debate as people are expressing their disagreement towards the method taught in the video.
One person wrote: “I know it’s not good for the elasticity of the bra but some people can’t reach their back or bend their arms that way.”
While another said: “I’ve only ever seen the right way. Are people really climbing into their bras or putting them over the head like a T-shirt?”
The most popular comments include people complaining about not reaching, disabilities or surprised with the correct way, while others confirm that the method never failed them.
Janice added: “We’re just normal people, but we’re trying to bring bra fitting to life, talking about everybody’s breast shape, it is so important.
I’m trying to bring all this information in a fun way, it’s a taboo subject and we don’t talk about how important bras are.”
