An author from Southwell will read his debut book to children at Newark Library.

Mr Simon Jamie has written The Sheep Who Couldn’t Sleep, which he has also illustrated himself.

He will use puppets to get the children involved, before they can make their own sheep at a crafts session. There will also be opportunities to buy signed copies of the book.

Mr Jamie was a pupil at Lowe’s Wong, Holy Trinity, and The Minster School, Southwell, before graduating from The University of Leeds. He later completed a postgraduate degree at Nottingham Trent University.

“The book makes a great bedtime story for young children aged three or above,” he said.

“Every page is filled with bright and colourful illustrations, and the story is brought to life in memorable rhyming verse.”

The author, who works as a web and print designer, is currently writing more books.

He will read to children at Newark Library on December 15 at 11am.

The book is available from Woodlanders, Southwell, The Bookcase, Lowdham, Ferry Farm Park, Hoveringham, and at www.sheepwhocouldntsleep.com
