Christ Church Church of England Infants’ School, Newark took part in Shrove Tuesday celebrations

Every pupil at an infants’ school took part in a traditional pancake race as they turned their thoughts to Lent.

Pupils at Christ Church Church of England Infants’ School, Newark, sang their traditional pancake song, which lists the ingredients.

They made their own pancakes and had a race around the playground, flipping as they went.

Head of school Donna Cobb said Shrove Tuesday was about starting the journey towards Easter and encouraged the children to think about what it stood for.

“The whole school get involved and race,” she said.

“It is a tradition that we have been enjoying for many years.”
