Flood warnings remain in place along River Trent, including Newark, Farndon, Gunthorpe and Girton, today (Saturday, January 23)
Several flood warnings remain in place this morning (Saturday, January 23) for the River Trent across the district.
Some communities are being given targeted information, warning them to be ready to leave their homes as flood warnings are in place.
Under the rules of the coronavirus lockdown, there is an exemption relating to people removing themselves from danger.
Environment Agency flood warnings — flooding is expected, immediate action is required — are in place in the following areas:
• Carlton-on-Trent, including Beck Cottage
• Collingham
• Farndon riverside properties, including Dorner Avenue and Wyke and Marsh Lane areas
• Fiskerton Mill, including Rolleston fields, gorse and nurseries areas
• Gibsmere and Gipsy Lane at Bleasby
• Girton
• Gunthorpe, and A6097 road
• Newark, for riverside properties
• Newark sugar factory and Kelham bridge
• Newark Tolney Lane and riverside marinas
• Radliffe caravan park
In addition, a number of roads in the county have also been closed for safety reasons and drivers are being advised to plan their journeys and avoid driving through flood water.
The current road closures are:
• A617 to Kelham is closed both ways between Ollerton Road and A46 cattlemarket roundabout. Diversion on to A616
• Kelham/Trent Lane
• Tinkers Lane, Girton
• Ford Lane, Caunton
• Stoke Lane, Gedling (pictured)
• Main Street/Church Lane, Costock
• Cotgrave Lane/Tollerton Lane, Tollerton
• Caythorpe Road, Lowdham
•Hoveringham Road, Caythorpe/Hoveringham
• Rufford Ford
