FLOODING: The A617 is currently blocked due to flooding and provision made for Tolney Lane residents
There are reports that the A617 is blocked due to flooding, and provision is being made for residents of Tolney Lane.
The carriageway is impassable from the Cattlemarket roundabout to Blacksmiths Lane due to water on the road.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.
Newark and Sherwood District Council have been assessing the town's flood risk, and have advised residents of the Tolney Lane area to relocate their mobile homes to Newark Lorry Park in case of flooding.
A rest centre has also been made available at Newark Sports and Fitness Centre on Bowbridge Road.
A photo was released earlier today show paddlerboarders on the very high waters of the River Trent at South Clifton.
The image, taken by Andy Rawden, drew criticism from head of prevention and protection at Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, Damien West, who said: "Please don’t put yourselves and others at risk - we’re still incredibly busy and actions like this just endanger everyone."
