From 10am to 2pm each day, shoppers should put their donated items in the special trollies by the supermarket entrances.

Lesley Marshall, general manager at Newark Foodbank, said: "Newark Foodbank is busier than ever this year, the number of clients has risen dramatically since last year, which was our busiest ever year to date.

"We are so grateful to Asda for this chance to have a targeted in-store collection for us. We are in need of stocks for certain items and these will be on the shopping list.

"We are so lucky that we never need pasta, tinned soups and baked beans but we do need supplies of other food items which are running low."
