The organiser of an annual six-a-side football tournament is looking for more teams to raise money for two good causes.

Matthew Ash, of Balderton, wants to see 20 teams playing at the Magnus Community Sports Centre, Newark, on July 15.

Money raised will be shared between six-year-old Nina James, of Stafford, who has been diagnosed with cancer, and Newark First Responders.

The youngster, who is undergoing treatment for Wilms’ Tumor, dreams of having a hot tub in her garden.

Mr Ash said: "It is extremely important to raise money because it will give Nina something to forward to.

"When you are ill life can be extremely difficult so raising money for something like this can make life seem a little better."

A total of 13 teams have signed up for the event so far.

Mr Ash has been supported by Sam Willis and Helen Mathers to get the tournament organised.

Entry costs £5 per player. To enter call Matthew on 07564 321559.
