Tuxford Town Council alerts people for wild stag in the area
A footpath had to be closed following an alert about a dangerous stag that killed several sheep.
Tuxford Town Council is alerting people through their Facebook page to a wild stag that was initially spotted in the fields behind the Walks of Life Museum, Lincoln Road, Tuxford.
The animal was said to have killed several sheep and to be showing signs of aggression.
The footpath next to the Costcutters has been temporarily closed for the protection of pedestrians, dogs and their owners.
The police and wildlife services are working to safely contain the deer.
The council added: “Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time. Please avoid the area for the time being.
“Stay safe, and thank you for your understanding.”
