Fresh ideas about food
Children from John Hunt Primary School bought fruit and vegetables from Newark market as part of a project on healthy living.
More than 30 five and six year olds from the Balderton school visited A. J. Taylor’s where Mr Stephen Larvin told them about the produce he sells.
In the afternoon the pupils were given prizes in the Town Hall for eating healthily.
Mr Ian Harrison, the markets and carparking business manager at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We think it is essential we help youngsters appreciate not just the value of fruit and vegetables but also, importantly, the value of Newark Market and the part it plays in keeping Newark town centre vibrant and attractive.
“We hope they will return as valued customers as they grow into young adults.”
