Newark intuitive tarot reader has created a JustGiving page to raise funds to travel across the country reading tarot cards
A former TV personality is raising money to take her spirituality across the country and help others through tarot reading.
Alice Grace Young, of Newark, has been reading tarot since the age of 15, and after her father died last year and she lost 14stone in weight, she became inspired her to follow in his footsteps and help people.
The 39-year-old said: “I've read for myself for years, and the information that comes from the tarot can be so accurate it is scary.
“I've believed in my own spirituality for a long time, and I think that I always felt like I didn't fit in, that I was different, but I think there's a reason that I was meant to be different, I was meant to stand out.”
“My dad inspired me, he was someone who helped people through his music, and his entertainment.
“That is what I'm trying to do as well — reach people.”
Alice’s dad, Peter Young, was a singer and performer in Newark, known on stage as Big Pete Young, who died in September 2023.
After starring on the TV programme ‘18 to 30 Stone Holiday’ on TLC in 2017 and losing 14 stone, Alice gained some extra confidence and decided she wanted to make a difference just like people have had in her life, and to give people access to spiritual help when they most need it most.
And now Alice is aiming to raise £750 to repair a van so that she can take her gift around the country to festivals, fairs and other events.

She said: “I had sort of an awakening through the weight loss, and then I lost my dad.
“It spurred me on because I was in a vulnerable place and I wanted answers, so I started looking to my own spirituality, which then led me onto an awakening, that I wanted to help other people.
“The weight loss gave me the motivation to do the van and instead of food I used the van to deal with the grief, which kept me focused.
“This van has been an absolute therapy journey and I want to create a safe space where people can feel safe to explore the tarot and what it says.”
Alice reads people’s cards during livestreams on her TikTok account — @alicegraceyoungfreetarot — every evening from 7.30pm to 9pm.
Alice said: “Tarot is tuning into energy to have that spiritual connection with people, and the cards are a tool that help guide me through that, so it gives me a point to go on.
“We talk further and we talk about what the card means to their situation.
“Tarot is actually a very conversational oracle, it helps you understand situations, it helps you find answers to situations.”
People interested in having their cards read, can either join Alice’s TikTok lives or contact her on her TikTok account or her Facebook — Alice Grace Young Tarot.
She added: “I think ultimately spirituality is a very personal thing and you don't have to be heavily involved in spirituality to get benefit from it.
“Doing things like making yourself aware of your own happiness, thinking about the influences around you that affect you and how you make peace with that.
“Believe it or not, spirituality is in most people's lives, whether they realise it or not.”
