Fundraising is a family affair
Five cousins have donated money they raised from a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee raffle to Beaumond House Community Hospice in Newark.
The boys, ranging from four to ten-years-old, helped to raise £70 at a garden party organised by their grandparents, Mr and Mrs Walter Hurst, of Macaulay Drive, Balderton.
There was both an adults’ and children’s raffle on the day, which was attended by about 40 family members and friends.
Mrs Lydia Hurst said the charity was important to the family as her mother went into the hospice in 2000, an event some of the boys can remember.
“The whole place is just excellent and it is a really worthwhile charity,” she said.
“I am very proud of the boys for working so hard on the day and they thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Mr Patrick Fisher, the hospice’s managing director, said for the family to have such fond memories of the hospice was wonderful.
He said the donation was greatly appreciated.
