Tambo Lounge, owned by Lounges plc, has opened in the Buttermarket in Newark
A new café lounge has opened in Newark, and promises to offer something for everyone.
Tambo Lounge officially opened to the public in the Buttermarket with a VIP event today (Wednesday), offering delicious food and drink, as well as a cosy hub to sit and have a break in a friendly, safe space.
Owned by West Country-based restaurant/café/bar group Loungers plc, the venue forms a major part of the redevelopment of the Buttermarket, which is being spearheaded by Newark and Sherwood district and Newark town councils.
Tambo Lounge’s general manager Nicola Carlin said: “There’s something here for everyone, we’ve got coffee, soft drinks and cocktails, but we’ve also got board games for children and we’ll be running a kids craft table on weekends, we’re really family friendly.”
The food menus, offering everything from light bites and sharing platters to sandwiches and classic dishes, as well as a full vegan menu, run all day, every day.
Nicola said: “A customer has the option of eating a Full English breakfast at 9pm, or even a steak at 9am if they want.”
Tambo Lounge gets its name from the Spanish word for milking yard – Tambo – as the lounge is located in the Buttermarket.
The lounge will be teaming up with mental health charity The Shaw Mind Foundation, to host their pop-up Breathe:Hub events and holding fundraising activities for them in the future.
“It’s really important for people to have a place to talk and have a breather if they need it,” Nicola added.
“We’re very community orientated and we want the community to come in and see what we have to offer for themselves.”
