GALLERY: Crowds flock to annual Southwell Minster winter craft fair
Southwell Minster’s annual winter craft fair took place over two days for the first time.
The event was held from 7pm to 10pm in the minster on Friday evening and from 10am to 3pm on Saturday in both the minster and the state chamber at the neighbouring Archbishop’s Palace.
Both were filled with stalls.
This year there were more than 70 stallholders selling a wide range of handmade crafts, including jewellery, glassware, ceramics, textiles, Christmas decorations, and homeware.
There was a suggested £3 entry donation.
Southwell diocesan media officer Jane Wyles said: “Southwell minster’s annual winter craft fair just keeps on growing.”
The minster’s head of marketing and events, Glenn Formoy, said: “The craft fair was once again a huge success with over 2,000 people visiting the 70-plus stalls across the weekend, despite the awful weather and a certain rugby game on the Saturday morning.
“It was the first time we had opened up on the Friday night, which went down well with visitors as there was a more relaxed atmosphere before the hustle and bustle of the Saturday.
“The entry donations received will help us support our ministry, mission and pastoral care connected to schools, local churches, our local community and projects in the UK and overseas, as well as helping us to care for and maintain our precious building.”
