Amazing photos of the Northern Lights, also known as aurora borealis, over Newark




Northern Lights lit up the skies around the country last night, and here in Newark and the surrounding areas, we were treated to some simply stunning scenes.

The lights, also known as aurora borealis, are caused by charged particles from the sun hitting gases in the Earth's atmosphere, which manifest into shimmering lights.
