Garden open for charity
A Coddington couple will open their garden for the 15th year today to raise money for charity.
Mr and Mrs Bruce Richmond, of Roselea, 40 Newark Road, decided to open their garden after visiting others that are part of the National Gardens Scheme.
Mr Richmond said they were passionate about plants and had something they could share with other people interested in gardening.
He said: “When we first started our garden we would travel across the country in order to get unusual plants. Our garden has got some colour all year round.”
Mr Richmond said the cold weather meant that some flowers had been later than normal in coming into bloom but Sunday’s sunshine and further nice spells this week had helped to bring them on.
The garden has a small alpine area, pergolas covered with climbers and many places to sit and enjoy the plants.
It will be open from 11am until 5pm. Entry is £2 for adults, which will go to the scheme’s selected charities.
The couple will also be serving home-made teas to raise money for the Parkinson’s Disease Society.
