Gardens in bloom
Eleven gardens will open in Ollerton a week on Sunday in a venture organised by the Sherwood Forest Rotary Club.
Mrs Sylvia Pink, the chairman of the club’s community committee, said there was a good variety of gardens for people to visit, ranging from small and compact ones, traditional gardens full of flowers, and gardens with views over the river.
Visitors should use the carpark by the Hop Pole, from where programmes can be bought for £2.50.
Programmes can also be bought from anywhere along the open garden trail. The Snooty Fox pub has agreed to let its carpark be used.
Mrs Pink, who will be opening her garden, said many people would try to raise extra money by serving cream teas, and running tombolas, plant stalls, and raffles.
Money raised will be used to help local community projects.
The event will be the first of the new rotary year. The final event of the past year was a charity ball in Worksop.
