As well as individual success, Chris Fisher, head of school, said there was a great sense of pride from all students who collected their GCSE results.

He said: "It’s been wonderful to share in the success of so many students this year after what has been a remarkable year.

"To secure the success that has been seen today (results day) demonstrates the strength of character and tenacity that exists across the year group.

"Our students have performed exceptional well and they have secured the grades that their hard work and dedication so richly deserves.

"We are all so proud of them and can’t wait to welcome the majority of our cohort back to our thriving sixth form in September."

Matthew Hough secured a total of nine grade nines, while Lauren Magee and Timothy Jackson secured grades eight or nine in every subject.

Kassia Chapman and Daniel Hough also performed well, achieving a strong set of qualifications at grade seven, eight and nine.

Andy Seymour, executive headteacher, said: “This has been an exceptional year but these are exceptional students and it’s such a privilege to see their hard work rewarded with the grades they’ve received.

"Most importantly, these grades now provide access to their chosen pathway for the next phase in their lives and of course those all-important life chances.”

Students will now go on to study post-16 qualifications at a range of destinations including Newark Academy Sixth Form, Lincoln College, Nottingham College, Riseholme College and Newark College.
