GCSE results: Students at The Dukeries, Ollerton, highlighted for 'exceptional results'
Students at The Dukeries, Ollerton, have thanked their teachers for helping them achieve their dream grades.
Oliver Hall, who was the top performing year 11 student, said: “From the start of my time at The Dukeries, I have been very impressed by my supportive teachers.
"They have always pushed me to attain my highest possible achievement and I have never felt left out in lessons.
"For this reason, I am looking forward to the next chapter where I will, of course, be attending The Dukeries Academy sixth form”.
Alisha Knowles was also delighted with her results.
She said: “I am so happy with my results, which reflect my hard work and my mocks.
"Last year, I did early entry English literature and achieved a grade nine, which just shows how amazing The Dukeries is because the staff push us to achieve our best.
"Lockdown has been an incredibly difficult time, but my teachers have been amazing and helped us to prepare for A-levels and have also offered us emotional support.
"I can’t wait to start sixth form."
Ben Lawrence highlighted the progress he made during his team at the school.
He said: “I’ve loved my experience here learning new things and rediscovering who I am.
"I made massive progress and it has given me hope for the future in pursuing a career in computer programming.
"I would like to thank all my teachers for their support, even when I didn’t believe in myself."
Mr Ged Rae, principal, said: “I am exceedingly proud of our students and staff. They have shown remarkable resilience, strength and optimism throughout the covid-19 lockdown period.
"These results are testament to this. Although there has been significant uncertainty about exam results, over the past few weeks, I am delighted that our students have now received the grades that their hard work most certainly deserved”.
Mr Andrew Wilson, executive principal, said: “What an incredible year, these grades are testament to the huge efforts put in by all at the academy and are a superb reflection on our students and community.
"While excellent achievement is an expectation for students at The Dukeries Academy, these grades genuinely open doors to a bright and successful future for the class of 2020.”
