Preparations being made for the Advertiser Ladies Day at Southwell Racecourse, with Valentine's Day ticket offer available

Preparations are being made for the return of the most popular event on Southwell Racecourse’s calendar — the Advertiser Ladies Day.

The event, which attracts thousands of people, is due to take place on Sunday, August 15.

After being cancelled last year because of covid, the organisers are bringing back all the style, drama and atmosphere that people have come to expect from the day.

General tickets go on sale from Monday, with grandstand admission tickets costing £28 per person.

However, there are some limited special offer Valentine’s Day tickets, including a Prosecco Package — two entry tickets plus bottle of champagne — available until midnight on Sunday that could save you up to £29.

Because of covid restrictions, a reduced capacity is expected so the racecourse is urging people to book early to avoid disappointment.

"We are looking forward to welcoming spectators back to Southwell. We are not sure when at this moment in time, but remain optimistic we will be able to welcome racing fans, albeit a reduced capacity, to attend Advertiser Ladies Day,” said racecourse executive director Mark Clayton.

“We have proved successful in staging safe and secure behind-closed-doors racedays since July 2020, and when spectators return they can be sure we are a covid-safe venue. Furthermore, with our Book With Confidence scheme our loyal Advertiser Ladies Day customers have little to lose.

“It is certain the covid restrictions will have enforced changes to our facilities, but this mainly outdoor event, will still be full of activity and entertainment. One to get in the diary and look forward to.”

As always, the event offers all the excitement of a full racecard with all the glamour of Ladies Day.

It offers a much-needed chance to get out of your working-from-home-wardrobe and dressed up in those forgotten ‘going out’ clothes. Chic outfits and beautiful hats will be in abundance as racegoers put their best shoe forward to impress the judges of the Advertiser Style Award, which has a selection of fantastic goodies for the winner.

Unlike Royal Ascot Ladies Day and The Epsom Derby, there’s no official dress code at the Advertiser Ladies Day, unless you are in hospitality, so racegoers are not obligated to wear a hat or specific outfit style, so the world is your oyster when it comes to choosing the perfect outfit.

This year, Southwell Racecourse Ladies Day will take place during a flat racing fixture, so promises some face-paced action and thrilling finishes.

With reduced capacities likely, tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
