Giant pigeons to fly into Newark Market Place this weekend

Have you ever met a giant pigeon? No, neither have we.

The familiar birds will be flying into Newark Market Place this Saturday to say hello to passing shoppers.

People in Newark can meet Percy and Penelope between 11am and 2pm.

Market manager Ian Harrison said: "They have been before and were very warmly received by Newark folk.

"The pigeons are a one off before they migrate to Alfreton for the winter.

"I have to warn you though, they do get a bit frisky."

There will also be music from the Moonshiners throughout the afternoon to accompany Percy and Penelope on their visit.
