The Turquoise Teapot, Newark, adds gin lounge as part of new evening hours
A family-run tearoom is looking to extend its services with the addition of a live music and a gin lounge.
The Turquoise Teapot, Newark, reopened earlier this year on Bowbridge Road.
Kieran Wells, who owns the cafe with his brother, Bradley, said: “We are still a coffee shop during the day, but we are turning into a gin bar at night.
“We are working with local artists and will have different acts on every Friday night.”
Kieran has previously worked in the night-life industry and said he will use his experience to guide the coffee shop in a new direction.
“The venue is something different as it is out of the town centre,” he said. “It only holds about 40 people so it has that intimate feeling.
“We are looking to adapt and take it to another level. We are completely unique in that sense.”
The gin lounge service will run on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6.30pm — with live music every Friday.
Tomorrow will be the second week of music and will feature Newark’s Ant MacAndrew.
The brothers are looking to bring tribute acts in the new year with the likes of Elton John and Elvis Presley impersonators lined up.
