Glorious gardens set to open for charity under the National Garden Scheme
Three glorious gardens will open for visitors on Sunday to raise money for charity under the National Garden Scheme.
Capability Barn, Gonalston Lane, Hoveringham, will open from 11am to 4.30pm.
The imaginatively planted large country garden features wisteria, magnolias, rhododendrons, and apple blossom.
It has established trees, shrubs and shady paths, and large vegetable/fruit gardens plus an orchard and meadow.
Ivy Bank Cottage, The Green, South Clifton, is a traditional cottage garden with herbaceous borders, fruit trees, including a Nottinghamshire Medlar, vegetable plots and many surprises, including a stumpery, a troughery, dinosaur footprints and even fairies. There are original features with pig sties, privy and washhouse.
Children can search for animal models and explore the shepherd’s hut.
It is open from 1pm to 5pm.
Norwell Nurseries, Woodhouse Road, Norwell, is open from 2pm to 5pm.
The plant nursery is home to two national plant collections of astrantia and hardy chrysanthemums. There are more than 3,000 beautiful and unusual plants sumptuously set out in a one-acre plantsman’s garden, including woodland area, cottage garden borders, scree borders, ponds and effervescent colour themed beds.
There are plants for sale and refreshments at each venue.
