'Good' Ofsted rating again for St Peter’s Cross Keys Academy
St Peter’s Cross Keys C of E Academy has been rated by Good again by Ofsted among other schools in Newark.
The report described the school as benefitting from "a culture of positive relationships between staff and pupils" by inspectors who praised key stage 2 development. But suggested key stage 1 teachers "raise their expectations" of pupils in English and Maths to achieve more highly.
"Pupils are well behaved, polite and respectful. Pupils learn together harmoniously in lessons and enjoy sharing ideas and discussing their work," stated the review. "Teachers continue to provide opportunities for pupils to write at length and apply the language and vocabulary they use verbally, in their written work."
Following the one-day inspection, it also highlighted effective support from the school's multi-academy trust and governing body, saying its success is down to their "cohesive and skilled" teams.
It added: "They have a precise understanding of the school’s performance and conduct insightful visits to meet with leaders and to check on the progress of school improvement priorities."
Pleased with her school's progress, head teacher of the Farndon academy, Liz Duffell, believes the good report reflects the "hard work and positive attitudes" of the pupils, staff and governors, along with the multi-academy trust.
"The inspection letter also demonstrates the impact of the support provided by parents and carers, and we want to say thank you for all of their valued support which helps us to continue improving,” she said.
It comes after two more of Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT) schools were graded Good in their Ofsted inspections, including Magnus Church of England Academy and Burntstump Seely C of E Academy.
And following the one-day inspection, CEO of Diocese SNMAT Chris Moodie, welcomed the news commending the school's heard teacher.
He said: "The inspection of St Peter’s Cross Keys recognises the high quality education that is on offer here. The excellent leadership that Liz Duffell has shown is acknowledged, as is the contribution of every member of her dedicated team. SNMAT are very proud to be working with this academy as it goes from strength to strength."
Alex Raynor, chair of governors at the school also celebrated the results, saying: "We are proud of our wonderful school. Our success is built on the hard work and commitment of every member of the school community – pupils, staff, parents and governors.”
