Floral Media, Caunton, and Sutton-on-Trent home to open gardens through National Garden Scheme
Two gardens will be open to the public this weekend to raise money for nursing and health charities.
Tomorrow, Floral Media, on Norwell Road, Caunton, will be open from 10am to 4pm.
Described as a beautifully well-maintained country garden, it has long sweeping borders surrounding the main lawn leading to wildflower meadows where there is an interesting garden retreat.
It is a flower farm that supplies British-grown stems to florists and farm shops.
It is dog friendly and there is wheelchair access.
On Sunday, 5a High Street at Sutton on Trent — which featured on Gardener's World in October 2021 — will open from 1pm to 4pm.
Manicured lawns are the foil for this plantsman’s garden. Vistas lead past succulents to tropical areas and vibrant herbaceous beds.
Ponds run through the plot, leading to woodland walks and a dedicated fernery with more than 180 varieties, including magnificent tree ferns.
Topiary links all the planting with great effect.
Both gardens offer homemade cakes and refreshments, have free parking and also have plants for sale.
Both are open through the National Garden Scheme, which last year donated £3m to nursing and health charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
