VIDEO: Watch Grace Spencer, 14, shave her hair off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A Newark teenager 'braved the shave' in support of her family members who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Grace Spencer, 14, shaved her hair to a Grade Two cut at TK Hair and Beauty today to raise money for in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Macmillan is a charity close to Grace's heart as not only has her grandad Michael Spencer been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but her cousin Georgia Harbinson was also diagnosed with leukaemia when she was just 17.

Thankfully both are now in remission.

Grace's mum Jo said: "We're so proud of her, her hair is everything to Grace so this is a big thing for her, but she said it would raise the most money."

Grace, who wants to be a hair dresser when she is older, had her head shaved at TK Hair and Beauty as she works there on Saturdays, and manager Hayley Witham performed the Grade Two shave.

Her elder sister Ella, 16, also shaved some of her sister's hair herself as part of Macmillan's Brave The Shave initiative, calling out to brave souls to shave their head to raise money.

Hayley said: "We're all so proud of her, she's the most amazing and beautiful person, both inside and out."

Grace's hair was first tied into two plaits as she is donating the hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that creates wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Grace said that she is still getting used to having such short hair, and is considering trying out an assortment of different hair styles.

She also said that she wouldn't hesitate to 'brave the shave' again as hair grows back.

The final amount Grace has raised for Macmillan is still being counted, but she hopes to raise over £300.
