Newark Emmaus Trust Charity Wine Tasting event supported by Newark business Ann et Vin raises over £1,600
A wine-tasting event went down a treat with guests, helping to raise funds for a homeless charity, writes Danny Davies.
The Newark Emmaus Trust hosted a wine-tasting event at Newark Town Hall in collaboration with wine merchant, Ann et Vin, and was supported by several other businesses.
All together the group of 89 managed to raise over £1,600 for the charity which supports the young homeless.
Nicola Burley, CEO of the trust, said: “We thought it would be difficult to better our Wine Tasting Event last October but this was a truly fantastic evening and a lot of fun, made possible by the generosity and support of our friends old and new.
“Together we raised just over £1,600. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who attended; to Ann; the hard-working team at Newark Townhall and also those who worked so hard on the night to make the event the resounding success that it was.
“The money raised will allow us to provide our residents with activities that they would not otherwise be able to do! We are truly grateful.”
Ann et Vin, based on Castlegate, supported the evening by supplying eight different, affordable wines.
Business owner, Ann, said: “It is always a pleasure and a fun experience.
“It is great to see so many local people coming together to enjoy first-class wines and at the same time, support the young homeless in our area through the Newark Emmaus Trust.”
Several other businesses also supported the event, including IDT Technical Solutions who donated an iPad to the charity raffle, and the Nottingham restaurant Iberico World Tapas, who supplied a dining voucher.
The Newark Emmaus Trust provides training, support, and accommodation for homeless young people between 16 and 25.
All accommodation is located in Newark, and is fully furnished and ready to occupy, including shared housing for both the same and mixed genders, as well as self-contained flats and houses for parents.
If you need help, or know anyone else who does, get in touch with the Newark Emmaus Trust.
The charity is always looking for support and anyone wishing to donated or fundraise on their behalf can do so by contacting Nikki Burley at the trust.
